**Coming Soon — Bodhicitta Somatics Online Courses**
I founded Bodhicitta Somatics to provide self-study courses that offer a pathway to overcoming trauma and achieving balanced health. The courses incorporate heart-centered, body-based techniques, and invite users to deeply connect with, nurture, and rely on their own inner knowing. This intuitive approach to issues has often been disregarded, but I and many others believe a renewed emphasis on the wisdom of the Sacred Feminine is critical if we are to correct the current imbalances in our individual, collective, and global health. These courses are therefore applicable to and open to all, regardless of gender.
What do these words mean? “Somatics” refers to the body. Somatic therapies work with physical sensations and emotions, highlighting the mind-body connection. These tangible qualities are identified and explored, and traumas which the thinking mind has been unable to resolve via traditional psychotherapy can be accessed and healed.
Champion of the sacred feminine, Lama Tsultrim Allione, teaches that “bodhicitta” has at least two meanings. In Mahayana Buddhism, bodhicitta means the altruistic intention to work for the benefit of all beings. It is the desire to continuously be of service. This is the aspiration of a bodhisattva, and it is perhaps the more commonly understood definition. In Dzogchen traditions, however, bodhicitta means “perfect knowing.” It is our true nature, our innate condition. We are born with bodhicitta, and it cannot be extinguished, diminished, or damaged. ALL of us (even those we don’t like!) have bodhicitta; primordial purity is who we really are.
These courses incorporate all the above definitions. They offer concrete, body-based techniques, I am creating them out of my desire to offer beings a way out of suffering, and the steps contained within serve to illuminate the truth that you are already completely perfect.
You don’t need to be a Buddhist to follow these courses, nor is any spiritual belief required in order to derive the benefits. One of the things I love about Buddhism is that you are invited to try things out for yourself. Your direct experience supersedes any verbiage describing a concept or someone else’s take on it, and it is the only way to truly know if the ideas are effective for you.
You will find physical exercises, guided visualisations, video and audio links, and other methods which allow you to really feel into the concepts offered, but they are all suggestions. You are encouraged to explore the offerings, and to ascertain what resonates with you. A “take what you need, and leave the rest” approach is welcomed as you aspire to connect with your own wisdom and develop your own intuition.
I drew from my background as a law enforcement investigator, a bodyworker, a somatic therapist, a reiki master, and a Buddhist practitioner to create these courses. Although much of the work can be completed alone, there are also opportunities to connect for one-on-one personal sessions that will help to seat the material, to be offered support, and to have any questions answered.
Trauma occurs in the absence of safe connection. My hope is that these self-paced courses will offer tangible tools which foster within you a sense of connectedness and empowerment, and that they will provide answers to these common questions: “Why Am I Stuck?,” “How Can I Feel Safe?,” “How Can I Heal?,” and “How Can I Move Forward?.” I thank you for being willing to begin, and Welcome!
